Weekend in Chester

Sometimes it feels like you spend hours waiting for that weekend away you've booked four months in advance and then it suddenly its comes and it's over within a blink of an eye. This weekend we booked an overnight stay in the city of Chester for my fiances birthday. Unleashing his inner child, James asked me to take him to the zoo and I kindly obliged. I'm a lover of small, cute animals and couldn't think of a better way to spend my weekend. We arrived at Chester on Saturday morning, went straight to the zoo and then stayed in the Queens Hotel across from the train station. I admit I can be a little bit of a hotel snob and the room wasn't really my cup of tea, but it was a comfortable and pleasant night stay. On the evening we headed into town for a few sneaky drinks, only to find ourselves in the middle of a re-launch party at Chester's Revolution. All evening we were treated to free canapés and lots of cocktails and shots, a perfect way to spend James' birthday. On the Sunday, we did what I do best and went shopping. I picked up lots of treats which I'm sure i'll be blogging about soon. Tip - Primark has definitely picked up lately and has lots of surprisingly nice, bang on trend items.
